8 Ways to Stay Hydrated When the Temperature Drops

Brrr, it’s cold out there! As the temperature drops, we know the last thing you want to do is sip on icy beverages. But, staying hydrated during these chilly winter months is so important — especially in Calgary’s super-dry conditions. Thankfully, we’ve got some tips for you, and they’re not all about guzzling down freezing cold cups of water, so don’t worry.

1. Hot beverages count, too!

Typically, when we think of drinking liquids to stay hydrated, we think of cold water. But, good news: hot beverages are just as good. Sip on a hot cup of tea, or try hot water with lemon, cucumber or other fruits. It’s a delicious and comforting way to hydrate.

2. Cut down on caffeine and alcohol

Caffeine and alcohol leave your body dehydrated, so try to cut back. You just know your consumption levels will rise as the holidays approach, so cut back now in anticipation!

3. Wash your face with lukewarm water

Winter weather tends to dry out our skin, and we know it’s so tempting to rinse and wash in hot water, but listen up. Lukewarm water is your best bet, and will help save your skin from cracking and redness.
